Join us for Poetry with a Purpose, a heartfelt, come-and-go fundraising event supporting your local indie bookstore . From 12 PM to 6 PM, we’re filling the shop with the power of words, creativity, and connection—all in support of keeping our shelves (and stories) alive.
Order of Events:
All Day: Silent auction featuring themed baskets and bundles—perfect for gifting or treating yourself. Winners will be contacted via email.
12:00PM - 6:00PM: Blackout poetry station using local newspapers and magazines; easy-to-follow instructions will be available with instructors to answer questions as needed.
1:30PM: Community poetry slam and open mic
3:00 PM: "Haiku with Hannah” workshop.
4:00 PM: Publishing Q&A session
5:00PM: Community poetry slam and open mic
Throughout the day, enjoy a variety of interactive and inspiring experiences for all ages and skill levels. Try your hand at blackout poetry using local newspapers and magazines, or join us for a lighthearted and creative “Haiku with Hannah” workshop. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or just curious to explore poetry, there’s something for everyone.
Take the stage (or cheer others on!) during our community poetry slam and open mic, with featured readings happening throughout the afternoon. Share your voice, your story, or simply soak in the creativity of others in a welcoming, encouraging space.
Instead of a traditional raffle, we’ll be hosting a thoughtfully curated silent auction featuring themed baskets and bundles—perfect for gifting or treating yourself. Highlights include a Mother’s Day-inspired bundle (featuring Rosie’s BIG Talk Workbook), as well as collections of books, shop merchandise, and other bookish goodies. Be sure to browse the full list of auction items displayed around the store and place your bids before the event ends!
We’ll also be hosting a Publishing Q&A session, where you can ask questions about the writing and publishing process—perfect for aspiring authors or anyone curious about what it takes to bring a book to life.
Can’t attend but still want to support? We’ll have a donation link available online, so you can contribute from anywhere or give additionally during the event.
Come for a little while or stay all afternoon—every visit, every bid, and every donation helps support our mission to build a vibrant, literary community. We can’t wait to celebrate poetry, creativity, and community with you! ✨📚
