Join our Banned Book Read-In!
For the second year now, Libro.fm and Silent Book Club are teaming up with independent bookshops and libraries to protest censorship this Banned Books Week (October 4-10, 2026).
How it works:
Everyone brings their own book (or picks one from the shop).
People settle in together for a designated reading period.
There may be coffee, tea, snacks, or drinks available.
Conversation can happen before or afterward, but there’s no assigned reading or required discussion.

Q: What happens at a read-in?
A: We read! It almost sounds too simple to be true, but that’s really it. We settle in for a set period of time and read, chat about what we’re reading, maybe learn or talk a bit about censorship and how to get involved if that’s on your heart, and read some more.
Q: Do I have to read a banned book during the read-in?
A: Nope! You can read whatever you would like.
Q: Do I have to read a hardcover or paperback book?
A: Nope. Audiobooks and ebooks absolutely count!
Q: Do I have to pay to attend?
A: Nope! Participation in the read-in is completely free. However, if you want to buy a book, trinket, or drink to support our indie bookshop, we would never say no!
Q: Do I have to attend the entire read-in? What if I can only come for a little while at the beginning and end of the read-in?
A: That’s perfectly fine! We understand life is busy. We want anyone interested in participating to join us for as long as they are able, whether that’s half an hour or all four hours!
